Dr. Kishor Wasan, Professor and Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, has been selected as the newest jury member for the Prix Galien Canada. He will replace Dr. Jim Blackburn, former Dean of Pharmacy and Nutrition, as the prairie representative on the jury.
For any number of diseases—think heart disease, cancer and diabetes—there are tests that diagnose and guide treatment. Diseases related to mental health are an exception.
SASKATOON – Testing of a protein biomarker that could contribute to a fast, effective and portable test for traumatic brain injuries, commonly known as concussions, is set to begin thanks to funding from the Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) Saskatchewan Innovation Fund at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S).

Dr. Dobson is an associate professor of Social and Administrative Pharmacy and managing director of the MERCURi Research Group. He teaches on a range of topics across the four years of the pharmacy undergraduate program including comparative health systems, pharmacy management, pharmacoeconomics, and health and pharmacy policy.
In February 2015 the University of Saskatchewan (through the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition and VIDO-InterVac), Innovation Saskatchewan, Ag-West Bio and the Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) established a new $2 Million Dollar Innovation Fund (Announcement attached).
Collaboration is key when it comes to scientific research, and two of our faculty are working with Health Quality Council on new projects.

University of Saskatchewan researchers have been awarded $7.6 million from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).
The Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP), a national partnership organization involving regulators, educators and Dietitians of Canada, is responsible for developing and maintaining Canadian standards for dietetic education. The Integrated Competencies for Dietetics Education and Practice – 2013 (ICDEP) were developed under PDEP`s direction as were the revised accreditation standards for Dietetics Education programs in Canada.

Dr. Carol Henry has been appointed as the Assistant Dean, Division of Nutrition and Dietetics, in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, effective July 1, 2015 for a three year term.
International projects led by University of Saskatchewan researchers have been awarded $2.2 million from Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), part of an $8.3 million investment to improve food security with partners in Ethiopia, Nigeria and Benin.
