Welcome

Dr. Jane Alcorn, Professor and Dean

Greetings,

As we move through this busy term, I want to extend my considerable thanks for the tremendous work each of you is doing across our College. We are currently celebrating Black History Month, an important time to honour Black excellence and deepen our commitments to equity and inclusion.

We recently wrapped up a very successful Research Symposium, showcasing the strength and creativity of our scholarly community, and our recruitment initiatives continue have had a significant reach. Thanks to everyone whose efforts have made this success possible.

Looking ahead, we have several exciting events on the horizon: our Academic Awards Ceremony, where we’ll celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students; the Nutrition 3rd‑Year Send‑Off, marking a meaningful milestone in our students’ academic progress; and the Alumni Achievement Awards, an opportunity to recognize graduates who continue to make us proud.

I also want to acknowledge those who contributed to the ‘Food Price Report’, a project with significant national impact and visibility.

Thank you for everything for all you do to support our students, our research, and our community. Your dedication continues to move our College forward—and it shows. Let’s celebrate all we’ve accomplished and the exciting work still ahead.

Recruitment Initiative Success

Fall–Winter Digital Advertising Campaign

The College of Pharmacy and Nutrition is celebrating the success of its Fall–Winter Digital Advertising Campaign, a seven-week recruitment and awareness initiative that significantly boosted engagement, visibility, and applications for its academic programs.

Be YouLaunched in November 2025 and running through the first week of January 2026, the campaign aligned with the University of Saskatchewan brand and its powerful slogan, “Be You, Be What the World Needs.” Designed to inspire and inform prospective students, the social media blitz connected future applicants directly with authentic stories from the college community.

Over the course of seven weeks, the campaign generated more than 1 million impressions across social media platforms and drove over 10,000 prospective students to dedicated question-and-answer landing pages on the college website. Visit the landing pages here:

Bachelor of Science in Nutrition

Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD)

At the heart of the campaign were professionally produced interview videos featuring real students, faculty, and staff. These videos provided transparent, relatable insight into the college’s two flagship programs: the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.

Visitors were invited to “meet” the people behind the programs. Faculty and staff shared what makes the college community unique and how they support students throughout their academic journeys. Current students spoke candidly about the projects they work on, what it’s like to build friendships with other students, and the motivations that inspired them to pursue careers in health and nutrition.

Several interviews highlighted real-world outcomes — from career paths and experiential learning opportunities to unexpected benefits and transformative moments experienced during their studies. By addressing common questions about workload, future careers, hands-on opportunities, and student life, the campaign helped prospective applicants envision what their own futures could look like within the college.

The dedicated landing pages offer a seamless next step: direct access to our college advisors. Curious students could easily reach out for personalized guidance on admissions requirements, program details, and the application process — turning interest into action.

The results speak for themselves. Application numbers increased substantially compared to previous cycles, demonstrating the campaign’s strong impact and affirming it as a major recruitment success.

The strategic, authentic approach to student recruitment is one that not only expanded awareness but also strengthened meaningful connections with the next generation of health professionals.

As the college looks ahead, this campaign stands as a powerful example of how storytelling, student voices, and strategic branding can work together to inspire future leaders to truly be what the world needs.
