The first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada took place on Thursday, September 30, and earlier in the year, the University of Saskatchewan decided to acknowledge this important day by supporting time for reflection and learning for the campus community. The intention was to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools and the resilience of survivors.
Thursday, September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Although there will be no classes that day, we encourage all faculty, staff, and students to take time on September 30 to participate in activities and to reflect upon the meaning of this day.

Racism and discrimination are experienced by members of the University of Saskatchewan community. Although we proclaim that we will not tolerate discriminatory or racist behavior in our teaching, learning and research spaces, those harmful behaviors nonetheless operate at our university in many forms, as they do in organizations and institutions across this country and around the world.
