College of Pharmacy and Nutrition
College welcomes students for the new academic year
The College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) is welcoming students back to campus for the start of a new academic year, including 83 first-year pharmacy students and 12 first-year nutrition students beginning their journey toward careers in the profession.
The incoming Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students gathered for orientation on Aug. 27, where Interim Dean Dr. Ed Krol welcomed them to the college. To mark the beginning of their studies, each student received a College of Pharmacy and Nutrition backpack. Incoming Bachelor of Science in Nutrition students were welcomed during orientation week and presented with their backpacks by the Dean on September 3rd in the Nutrition Food Labs.
Support from the Pharmacists' Association of Saskatchewan (PAS) and McKesson made this possible. The backpack initiative was launched through the efforts of Kris Dancey (Alumni Relations), former dean Dr. Jane Alcorn, and pharmacy students Dylan Chand, Mikolaj Rosinski and Ali Ilbagizadeh Mohabadi. Big thanks as well to Jason Belhumeur (Communications), who was responsible for design of the backpack. Great things can happen when we work together as a team.
As students return to classrooms, laboratories and learning spaces across the college, the start of the academic year provides an opportunity to welcome new members of the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition community and reconnect with returning students, faculty and staff.
