Canadian Nutrition Society Conference 2026
Nutrition students shine at Canadian Nutrition Society conference
By Jason BelhumeurStudents and graduate researchers from the University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Pharmacy and Nutrition were well represented at the 2026 Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) Annual Conference, held May 7–9 in Halifax, N.S.
The national conference brought together nutrition researchers, educators, health professionals and trainees from across Canada to share the latest advances in nutrition science.
Among the conference highlights was fourth-year nutrition student Esther Ha, who received the CNS Undergraduate Abstract Award, recognizing one of the top undergraduate research abstracts presented at the event.

Ha was honoured for her abstract, Diet quality and bone health in Canadian children: Positive associations between NRF 9.3 scores, bone mineral content, and bone density. Supported by the Canadian Nutrition Society, the award recognizes excellence in undergraduate research and scientific communication.
The award was presented during the 2026 Canadian Nutrition Society Awards ceremony, which celebrated achievements in nutrition research, education and leadership. Alongside career achievement awards, CNS recognized outstanding trainee and student research from across Canada. Ha received the Undergraduate Abstract Award on behalf of USask.
The conference also highlighted the strength of the college’s nutrition programs, with undergraduate and graduate students presenting research, connecting with peers and researchers, and engaging with the broader Canadian nutrition community.
Participation in national conferences such as the CNS Annual Conference provides valuable opportunities for students to share their work, build professional networks and contribute to discussions shaping the future of nutrition science in Canada.
Congratulations to Ha and all College of Pharmacy and Nutrition students and trainees who represented USask at this year’s conference.
