The Ray Joubert Memorial Award recognizes a pharmacy graduate with high academic achievement and demonstrated leadership and dedication to the profession of pharmacy.
Ray Joubert graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1974. He joined the Saskatchewan Pharmaceutical Association (now the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals) in 1977, eventually becoming Registrar in 1985. He remained as Registrar until his retirement 33 years later.
Ray was a visionary, and under his leadership, pharmacy practice not only advanced within Saskatchewan, but also led the country in many ways. Ray’s love and dedication for his profession was only outmatched by his love for his family.
Ray passed away in August 2021. He is remembered for his wisdom, integrity, and generosity of spirit, and this award was established to honour his memory.
Meagan grew up in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, where she was first introduced to healthcare through her mother’s work as a rural registered nurse. Over time, her interest shifted towards pharmacy as she progressed through school. During her pharmacy education, Meagan served on both local and national committees, where she built connections and developed a strong understanding of the role advocacy plays in healthcare. Her decision to pursue pharmacy was shaped by a desire to support community health and improve access to care across Saskatchewan.
Paige Pomarenski
The Rutter Medal 2025
The Rutter Gold Medal, given in honour and memory of Professor Emeritus Ethel Rutter, is awarded to the most distinguished graduate in Nutrition, recognizing both scholarship and leadership.
Paige always knew she wanted to pursue a degree in nutrition and dietetics at the U of S and she began her journey in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition in 2021.
Paige has been an outstanding student in all years of her program. She has received numerous scholarships and awards.
Paige would like to thank everyone at the University of Saskatchewan and at the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition for making all these opportunities possible and for allowing her to pursue areas of interest both in academics and by means of experiential learning.
Paige would also like to thank her mom and dad for their ongoing support.
This year, Paige also had the honor of being selected for the Hannon Travel Scholarship. She is looking forward to using this scholarship to travel to Italy and learn more about their food culture.
