Berenbaum named professor emeritus

Congratulations to Dr. Shawna Berenbaum who has received the honourary title of professor emeritus from the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Berenbaum began her faculty career at the University of Saskatchewan in 1986 firstly holding a limited term position in the College of Home Economics before moving to what is now the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. She initially was in part-time term positions in the college, but upon completing her PhD she was granted tenure and promotion to associate professor. In 2005 she was granted promotion to full professor.

During her career she taught undergraduate and graduate courses, and supervised PhD and MSc graduate students.  She conducted and published research related to community nutrition and health promotion and the dietetic profession.

Dr. Berenbaum had many administrative roles during her tenure: head of the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics, chair of numerous committees at the division, college and university levels; the nutrition program`s PDEP course director since the 1990s; director of the Nutrition Resource and Volunteer Centre and the Saskatchewan Community Nutrition Residency.
