MoU signed with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Saskatchewan and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu aims to facilitate greater academic collaboration between the two institutions.

On August 21, 2022, the University of Saskatchewan hosted a delegation from the Government of Malaysia and the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate greater academic collaboration between the two institutions.

The welcome address was given by Dr. Airini, Provost and Vice President Academic. Also in attendance were the Hon. Gordon S. Wyant Q.C., Minister of Advanced Education from the Government of Saskatchewan and the Hon. Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, an Edwards School of Business alumna (B. Comm. ‘91).

Sustainable aquaculture and future foods are some of the primary areas of focus of the MoU. A research collaboration will be led by Dr. Hassan Vatanparast (MD, PhD) from the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition and School of Public Health with UMT faculty Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mazlan Abd Ghaffar, Dr. Mhd Ikhwanuddin Abdullah, Director, Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries, and Dr. Meisam Tabatabaei, Professor of Environmental Biotechnology.
