Staff Spotlight: Claire Sutton

Claire joined the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition in September 2010, after moving to Saskatoon from Calgary, where she worked with students at SAIT Polytechnic in the Petroleum Engineering program. She was born and raised in South Africa, and emigrated with her family in 1995, establishing their new Canadian home in Calgary.

As the Undergraduate Program Secretary and College Receptionist she is the first contact that many students or visitors have when they visit or call the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition.  She is available for any administrative support required by both students and faculty, and will always go the extra mile to help anyone needing assistance, no matter what they require.  In fact, she has been called the “College mom” by some students who say they know they can count on her no matter what it is that they need!  Her other role is administrative support for the Structured Practice Experiences Program (SPEP) where she also enjoys close contact with all 4 years of Pharmacy students.

Claire is a self-professed "grammar nerd" and is always on the lookout for grammar gremlins. Her previous experience with editing has been appreciated by a number of folk within the College.  She is also known to come up with some unusual phrases and word choices, to the amusement of those who work close to her. Whether this is just her quirky personality or the result of her British heritage, who knows, but you never know what she will come up with next!

Her interests include traveling, camping and the great outdoors in general. She enjoys reading and has a particular penchant for royalty history, as well as a fairly extensive collection of royalty memorabilia.  If you should ever want to know about kings and queens, past and present, she would be the one to ask!
