Saskatchewan-GlaxoSmithKline Research Chair in Drug Discovery and Development

The University of Saskatchewan invites applications for the Saskatchewan-GlaxoSmithKline Research Chair in Drug Discovery and Development.
The chair is made possible through an endowment funded by GlaxoSmithKline, through its Pathfinders Fund for Leaders in Canadian Health Science Research and by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Government of Saskatchewan, SaskTel, the University of Saskatchewan, and the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
Applicants must have a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a closely-related discipline and postdoctoral experience is preferred. He or she has a strong track record in research, commensurate with academic rank, and experience in interdisciplinary research partnerships. Appropriate areas of drug discovery and development research include: pharmacogenomics, pharmacometrics, rational drug design and medicinal chemistry, biotechnology, biopharmaceutics, or a related field bridging the chemical and life sciences.
The appointed Saskatchewan-GSK Research Chair is expected to provide leadership to advance collaborative research programs that help strengthen drug discovery and development research in Saskatchewan. The incumbent is expected to successfully secure robust external funding and to recruit and train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, activities initially facilitated by funds associated with the chair.
The research chair will benefit from the University of Saskatchewan’s leading-edge research infrastructure, including a 24 MeV cyclotron and radioisotope production facility operated by the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation; the Canadian Light Source national synchrotron facility; the Saskatchewan Structural Sciences Centre; a state-of-the-art health sciences facility; a comprehensive array of human, veterinary, and agricultural research and teaching programs; the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization with level 3 containment facilities; and National Research Council and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research centres.
The successful candidate will be appointed to a tenure-track position in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at an academic rank commensurate with experience. Salary bands for this post are as follows: Assistant Professor $93,293 – $112,109; Associate Professor $112,109 - $130,925 and Professor $130,925 - $152,877.
