Bio

Adegboyega Lawal is a PhD candidate in Pharmacy, under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Rotter, research chair in Health Quality Improvement Science. He received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria and Masters of Public Health from the School of Public Health at the University of Saskatchewan. Lawal is a certified project manager who joined the Health Quality Improvement Research Group in 2013 as a research assistant and has since been involved in several quality improvement projects, including the evaluation of Lean management in the Saskatchewan health care system. As a PhD student, he has been the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including a U of S Graduate Student Scholarship, Graduate Student ESL Bursary, and Institute for Healthcare Improvement Conference Scholarship. He is also a two-time recipient of the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship Program. Recently, Lawal received recognized reviewer status from the journal Health Policy.

Research

Lawal’s research focuses on how we should design, implement, and test clinical pathways to improve patient safety in Saskatchewan. Recently, he published a methodology in BMC Medicine on the refinement of an operational definition for clinical pathways. Lawal is currently preparing manuscripts for peer-review and translating his findings into local and international contexts to improve patient safety and the quality of healthcare delivery.
