Prospective Preceptors
Pharmacy preceptors are the heart of the EL program.
Preceptors are integral to the delivery of the EL program. They, along with their colleagues, provide opportunities for students to learn and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of entry-to-practice pharmacists in real-world settings. Preceptors serve as role models, and their contribution to students' growth and achievement cannot be over-emphasized.
The USask PharmD EL Program would be happy to hear from you if you are interested in precepting.
Prospective preceptors should review the following information:
Consider Co-Precepting
Many sites have co-preceptors who share the primary responsibility for students. However, other pharmacists and staff often participate in students' learning experiences.
Check out the resource below to learn more about the co-precepting model.
It is important for the EL Office to know who is supervising students on site, so all co-preceptors must be registered with the EL Office to obtain a CORE account.
Please let the EL Office know about others at your site who will be involved in precepting and supervising students.
