Preceptor Recognition Program
The College of Pharmacy and Nutrition's PharmD EL Program would not exist if not for the incredibly skilled and dedicated preceptors who selflessly dedicate their time, energy, and expertise. Meritorious preceptors deserve a shout-out, and that is what the Preceptor Recognition Program aims to do!
Students are encouraged to reflect on the following questions after each of their EL placements and consider nominating their preceptor(s) for recognition:
Eligibility
All preceptors, co-preceptors, SHA Clinical Support Pharmacists, community-based organization coordinators and supervisors, and precepting faculty are eligible to be nominated for recognition. Unlike the previous Preceptor of the Year award, there is no exclusion criteria.
Criteria
Students are encouraged to consider how the nominee demonstrates the following traits:
- Dedicates intentional time and energy to the student's learning experience
- Creates a space where students feel safe to navigate challenges
- Delivers thoughtful feedback that transforms a student's performance and/or professional identity
- Models excellence in interpersonal relationships with others
- Leaves students more inspired about the profession and the impact they might have as pharmacists
Selection Process
The EL Office reviews the nominations and discusses how best to recognize the great work being done in EL placements across the program. Considerations include the number of preceptors nominated in a given timeframe, the quality and details of the nominations, other available evidence of the preceptor's contributions, and outlets available at the time to showcase the preceptor's merit.
Keep an eye on the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition's social media channels and the EL website!
Preceptor of the Year Award
The Preceptor of the Year Award recognized preceptors who made a significant contribution to the education of PharmD students in the USask EL Program, as nominated by students.
The award has been phased out and replaced by the Preceptor Recognition Program starting in 2026.
