Purpose
The Preceptor of the Year Award recognizes a preceptor who has made a significant contribution to the education of PharmD students in the USask EL Program. Preceptors are nominated by students.
Criteria
Students are asked to describe how the preceptor demonstrates the following traits in their nomination:
A commitment to facilitation of student learning through activities such as frequent feedback, encouragement, establishment of specific goals and expectations and authentic learning activities |
Enthusiasm for the role of preceptor and working with students |
Guidance and support to help students achieve the required competencies |
Effective communication and collaboration with the student |
A high standard of professionalism and excellent role model for the student |
Eligibility
Eligible Preceptors
Preceptors of IPPE (PHAR 185, 285) and APPE (PHAR 481, 482, 484, 484) rotations |
Preceptors from all practice settings (e.g., community, hospital, and specialty) |
The nominee must have directly supervised the student who is nominating them within the most recent academic year |
Ineligible Preceptors
Immersion (PHAR 188, 288, 388) preceptors |
Service learning (PHAR 189) preceptors/coordinators |
Individuals who hold tenure track faculty appointments |
Winners of this award in the previous three years |
