Events that Require Sponsorship
The SPNSS is proud to host a curling bonspiel year after year in early March. Teams of four or five compete in three mini games and enjoy socialization throughout the evening. This event encourages inter-year participation and interaction with the faculty and staff. This event offers a great opportunity for representatives from industry to interact in a casual environment with students.
This event typically costs $1750 to organize.Nutrition PED is planned by the Dietitians of Canada Senior Liaison on SPNSS council. A keynote speaker addresses Pharmacy and Nutrition students, faculty, staff, and practicing professionals about a timely topic concerning the world of dietetics in Saskatchewan. This is historically one of the most successful events of the year and brings our students together to discuss the profession outside of the classroom. PED also serves to be a great networking opportunity for students.
PED is an opportunity for students, faculty, and community members to network and learn about a relevant healthcare topic from a keynote speaker. PED promotes the College to the community and makes an impact on the general population, as last year it was held at TCU Place with a very high profile keynote speaker addressing the stigma surrounding mental health. A donation was made to a local mental health organization last year. The SPNSS is proud to provide this opportunity for students to continue their learning and professional development outside the classroom.
This event typically costs $4000 to organize. Costs are partially recouped by ticket sales. The Annual Spring Awards Banquet is intended to be an evening of recognition and socialization for SPNSS members who have displayed outstanding involvement in professional, social, and athletic activities. Many awards, certificates, and bursaries are presented to these outstanding students. All students are invited to attend as classes vote on numerous student superlatives to also be awarded at the banquet. It is a time to recognize the entire outgoing student council and to announce the incoming council for the upcoming year. This event will be held in early April 2017 and is customarily attended by both the students and faculty of our college.
This event typically costs $4700 to organize. Costs are partially recouped by ticket sales.
The Student-Faculty Golf Tournament is put on by the SPNSS each fall in order to foster good relations between the student body and the faculty at the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. Students and staff alike enjoy a Texas Scramble and steak dinner to kick off the new school year. This is one of the more costly events of the year, but continues to be highly enjoyable and anticipated over the summer by many of our students and faculty.
This event typically costs $5000 to organize. Costs are partially recouped by ticket sales.
The SPNSS is happy to host a complementary BBQ to conclude the College’s Orientation Day activities. This is where all first year students will meet their assigned upper year buddy and the 2016-2017 SPNSS student council. Our students anticipate this event all Summer as it is the first time that many of them reconnect after four months.
This event typically costs $1500 to organize.Students absolutely love this event! Our annual bowling night is customarily hosted during the first week of classes and allows students to reconnect after the Summer. It also gives first year students an opportunity to meet others in the College and get to know their upper year buddy better. Despite being rather costly, this event remains complementary for students.
This event typically costs $1750 to organize. The SPNSS Winter Formal is one of our most anticipated and best-attended annual events and will be held on November 25, 2016. If the previous years are any indication, we can expect over 350 individuals in attendance. Students, faculty, staff, and their guests enjoy a catered dinner at TCU Centre followed by a dance and socialization. The SPNSS has made this event in to a philanthropic venture in recent years by donating all raffle money to a local charity. Last year, the SPNSS was proud to donate $1710 to SWITCH.
This event typically costs $17500 to organize. Costs are partially recouped by ticket sales.
