Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe current rates of HIV transmission in Saskatchewan with a focus on heterosexual transmission and transmission rates among women.
  2. Understand transmission of HIV in Saskatchewan with a focus on vertical transmission.
  3. Understand the use of PrEP in people who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and have an increased risk of acquiring HIV.
  4. Describe treatment for people living with HIV in Saskatchewan, specifically during pregnancy.
  5. Understand prevention of vertical HIV transmission in high, intermediate, and low risk of transmission.
  6. Review the newest breastfeeding guidelines.

Course Information

This online course is mandatory for licensed pharmacy professionals in Saskatchewan.

Target Audience: Saskatchewan pharmacy professionals

Registration: $45.00 + GST


Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Be familiar with opioid agonist therapies available in Saskatchewan.
  2. Describe differences between traditional and micro-dosing buprenorphine/
    naloxone induction.
  3. Define trauma-informed-care and identify strategies used to support culturally
    safe pharmacy practice.
  4. Recognize standard requirements for dispensing opioid agonist therapy (OAT) in Saskatchewan.
  5. Identify valid prescriptions for opioid agonist therapy (OAT) in Saskatchewan.

Advanced Harm Reduction and OAT

This course includes an online course and a recorded, virtual workshop. Completion of the Online Course fulfills SCPP requirements. Registrants are not required to complete the virtual workshop.
