Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Analyze patient information to assess and advocate for suitable harm reduction and treatments, such as Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT), tailored to the needs and circumstances of individuals with a substance use disorder.
  2. Formulate and evaluate patient-centred treatment plans for initiating and maintaining OAT, considering best practices and interdisciplinary inputs while addressing potential challenges and solutions.
  3. Identify gaps in the continuity of care during transitions between community, correctional, or acute care settings and formulate strategies to enhance care continuity, thereby reducing the risk of relapse.
  4. Assess the complexities presented by co-morbid conditions in SUD cases, such as pregnancy or concurrent disorders, and develop integrated, comprehensive treatment approaches that consider multi-disciplinary perspectives and modalities.
