Community Pharmacy Manager Course

Course Information


The USask CPE Community Pharmacy Manager Course is a CCCEP accredited course. This course will support managers to identify the knowledge and skills needed to operate a community pharmacy in compliance with legislation, regulations and standards while promoting a culture of patient safety, and ensuring adequate pharmacy resources for quality patient care and services.


This is a self-directed course which is accredited for 25 CEUs. A comprehensive workbook is included to help managers put theory and their new knowledge into action.

Target Audience: This course is targeted at current community pharmacy managers and those who wish to become community pharmacy managers, however, the course is available to anyone.

Registration Fee:

  • Saskatchewan Residents: $430.00
  • Out of Province Residents: $630.00

Note: This course was initially accredited for 12.5 CEUs, but this was adjusted in July of 2023 due to  community feedback.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:                                                                           

  1. Create or modify and implement policies and procedures that support and guide staff in the operation of the pharmacy to ensure compliance with:
    1. Provincial and federal legislation and regulations
    2. Pharmacy professional standards of practice and guidelines
    3. Provincial labor standards and worker's compensation
    4. Pharmacy professional ethics
  2. Create or modify and implement policies and procedures that support and guide staff in the operation of the pharmacy to promote quality care and inspire public confidence. 
  3. Design and implement processes to effectively communicate with diverse pharmacy team members, regulators, and the public (including websites and advertising). 
  4. Design and implement processes to effectively communicate with other health care professionals, patients, family members, and other caregivers to ensure patient safety and continuous quality care.
  5. Design and implement record-keeping procedures and documentation in the pharmacy that meet legislative, regulatory, and professional requirements.
  6. Appraise and adjust pharmacy processes to ensure legal, accurate, appropriate, and complete medication dispensing.
  7. Establish a healthy, supportive pharmacy working environment that promotes professionalism, quality patient care, and professional development of staff member.
  8. Prevent and manage patient safety incidents in order to promote patient safety.
  9. Describe content specified as pharmacy manager responsibilities by Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCPP).
