Dr. Yvonne Shevchuk reappointed Associate Dean Academic

Congratulations to Dr. Yvonne Shevchuk on being reappointed as the Associate Dean Academic for the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. The Dean's Office issued the following statement on Wednesday, June 3

Dear Faculty and Staff:

I am very pleased to inform you that Dr. Ernie Barber, Interim Provost and Vice-President Academic, has, on behalf of the University, reappointed Dr. Yvonne Shevchuk as Associate Dean Academic of Pharmacy and Nutrition for a second five-year term from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020.   My thanks are extended to Drs. Gord Zello, Jim Fang, Ken Sutherland and Mr. Wendell Neubeker, who served on the Review Committee for this senior leadership position with me.

Based on your valuable feedback, the Review Committee’s deliberations and the rewarding experience that I have personally had working with Yvonne, I have the fullest confidence that she will continue to skilfully and successfully lead our efforts to achieve the vision and mission of our academic programs.

As you know, Yvonne is at the helm of the huge task of redesigning the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy into an entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy.  She is wisely guiding the various working groups involved and ensuring the important input of all of our stakeholders is heard and taken into account in planning the new degree.  She is working conscientiously with Nutrition and Pharmacy colleagues and our students on review and enhancement of a number of policies and processes, and is ensuring solid progress on the assessment and evaluation of our professional programs.  The role of Associate Dean involves dealing with sometimes difficult and challenging issues and she handles such situations with great care, wisdom and respect for all involved.  In addition to her excellent work as Associate Dean, as Director of medSask, Yvonne and her expert team of drug consultants recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of this important service to the public and to health care practitioners in Saskatchewan.

Please join me in congratulating Yvonne, and thank you in advance for providing her with your fullest support in the coming years!
